Schema of the “Therapy of the Seven Movements”

Workshop/Presentation date: 11/15/2014. Time: 9:30 am- 12 pm.

The purpose of this presentation/practical demonstration is to familiarize counselors, therapists and public/individuals with the synthesis between the basic theoretic postulates in the “Therapy of the Five Movements” created by Prof. Waldo Bernasconi, further development of his ideas, and an addition of two more directions of movement (behavioral models) that can be applied in the psychotherapy process. The event will have two parts: presentation/ lecture by Madlen Algafari and practical workshop by Svetla Bankova.

We are spirit, we have souls but we live in bodies. Is Stress a Destiny or Choice? Dilemmas of the Mind.

What do you when you have very stressful and demanding job, but you cannot quit because you are afraid you cannot pay your bills and support yourself financially otherwise? What do you do when you feel trapped in an unhappy marriage or relationship, but you feel that divorce is not an option? What do you when you have to take care of sick child or parents for a long period of time? These all are life situations that may cause chronic stress, but you can chose differently.

The class will also try to answer some of these questions:

What is stress? How stress affects our emotions? What do you do when stress hits you, when you feel trapped or out of control? How we can change our life style to reduce stress?

The 4 Big Questions of Dealing with Stress Situations:

Advantages of making life style changes. Disadvantages of making changes. Advantages of not making changes. Disadvantages of not making changes.

This class will be more improvisation, than following a set structure, depending on the number of participants.

Much of the emotional distress people experience is the result of thinking about upsetting things that have already happened or anticipating negative events that have yet to occur. Distressing emotions such as anger, anxiety, guilt, and sadness are much easier to bear if you only focus on the present – on each moment one at a time. The included exercises will increase your mindfulness of the present moment so that you can clear away thoughts about past and future events.

Learn to recognize when and where you hold tension in your body and how to effectively release it, allowing yourself to fully relax. Allow yourself to be guided into a meditative state, focusing on sounds you hear around you, your body and your breath.

The Body-Mind-Soul Class: Every 3rd Wednesday, 7:00-8:30, $20.00. First class is on 03/19/2014.
